What is Star Touring & Riding?
Conceived in 1995 and founded in 1996, STAR Touring and Riding
Association is an international family riding organization. As the, "Official
STAR Organization of Yamaha Motor Corp.," STAR is a non-political,
non-confrontational association. Its main focus is on family, fun, camaraderie
and RIDING. All brands of motorcycles are welcome. Comprising over 20,000
families and over 150 chapters, STAR recognizes safety as a first priority. The
STAR community is a mix of riders with varied riding experiences. Chapter rides
follow the highway laws and limits, to keep
everyone as safe as possible. This
allows everyone to enjoy the ride and not have new riders feel overly stressed.
(Click on the Safety Link to the left) STAR chapter rides do not include "tavern runs", and consumption of alcoholic
beverages on chapter rides is prohibited. We want to see you back safely for the
next ride. If you are looking for a family motorcycle association, with a lot of
pride, spirit and camaraderie without the "attitude" you have found the right
organization. Come ride with us and feel the spirit!!!!!
South Jersey Star Chapter 287
South Jersey STAR Chapter
287 is an officially chartered member of the STAR Touring & Riding Association.
Organized in August, of 2003, by Buddy Deery (Past President). We are based in
the Deptford, NJ area, and many of our rides are in the South Jersey area.
There are usually one or two Saturday or Sunday chapter rides scheduled per month. Many of these rides are 100 miles or less. We also have rides that are much longer, and to many interesting places in the tri-state area. For those who like to do overnight or long distance rides, we have STAR Days (week long rally, the third week in July), STAR-Bar-B-Q (usually a weekend at various locations), and other venues along the East coast.
We have about 45 members in the Chapter, and are looking for anyone who just enjoys riding, having a good time and getting a bite to eat.
You can join us at our
monthly meetings at Deptford Honda/Yamaha, 1300 Clement’s Bridge Road, in
Deptford, NJ. Our meetings are usually on the second Saturday of the month (but
check our Home Page for the exact date and time). You can also join us for any
Chapter ride (up to three rides), before you must join STAR Touring & Riding
Association International
www.startouring.org , and then be voted into the Chapter.
Although STAR Touring & Riding is the Owner’s Group for the Star line of Yamaha motorcycles, we accept riders of any brand, or model, of street motorcycle – you don’t have to have a Yamaha to join in the fun.
